A prediction that chat would be adopted by business and the app would be replaced with a collection of contextually aware digital actions lead me to resign as an architect of a global IT leader and convince a business parter to join me in founding UX Foundry. The largest of these being a web replacement for the legacy casino management system used by operators across the globe. GliNTECH Dec 2007 to Jan 2009 Senior Consultant In November 2007, my family and I relocated to Sydney, Australia accepting a senior consultant position at GLiNTECH. While at GLiNTECH, I worked on a number of projects including: IPTV Proof of concept for a leading Telco - I developed a proof of concept site to investigate the current state of video on the web. The site evaluates both the latest Silverlight and Move Networks technologies. Scheduled Reporting - I developed a scheduled reporting solution for a client that allows for custom reports to be executed and distributed across the organisation. Reporting RIA (Rich Internet Application) - The analysis and development of a reporting RIA for a leading Australian Telco. Derivco Oct 2006 to Nov 2007 Senior Web Developer In October 2006, my family and I moved from Johannesburg to Durban accepting a position at Derivco. I lead the development of a number of RIA projects including: Janus 2 - The Janus XXXXXX provides casino and poker house owners a single solution to track the status of their operations in real time. The JavaScript frontend allows for multi language support, various themes, user and role based security and the ability for other developers to develop grids, charts etc which simply plug-in to the frontend. 8T Gaming Web Reports - The 8T gaming reports application allows for the owners of 8T gaming in Asia to monitor their casinos in real time. My Poker Games Facebook Application - An application that allowed Microgaming players to schedule and organise private poker tournaments via Facebook. iCafe - I designed and developed the iCafe JavaScript web application that allows for iCafe owners and operators in Japan and Asia to run and manage their iCafe operations. Multichoice Mar XXXXXX 2006 Web Architect I was the web architect on the Quantum Leap project, a complete technology replacement of Multichoice’s billing systems. I designed and implemented the UI framework together with the UI design. The framework was written entirely in JavaScript and made use of Ajax before the term was coined. Software Futures Dec 2001 to Sep 2005 Web Architect / Senior Developer I was a web architect on the RMA project. A Web based insurance application with integration into 5 separate applications. The application made extensive use of multi-layered VB components, SQL Server 2000, disconnected Record sets, xml, SOAP, XSL, XSLT, ASP, Dhtml, behaviors and Microsoft Office. Comparex Africa Jan 2001 to Dec 2001 Senior Developer I was a senior web developer for the Vulindlela project. We developed the In-Year-Monitoring system; an Intranet based application which enables each government department to effectively track and manage their yearly expenditure. The system incorporated actually expenditure stored in a SAS data warehouse and allowed users at all levels to capture their forecasts. These amounts were then rolled up to National Treasury level and used to produce detailed reports. Technologies used include: VB com dlls, ASP, SQL Server 2000, XML, ADS, SAS and Excel. Abraxas Technologies (AST) 1999 to 2001 Systems Developer I was a systems developer with skills in VB, SQL Server 6.5 and 7, ASP, VBScript, Java Script and HTML. I implemented various projects including CNA Insurance, The Business Bank, Union Transport, Absa Bank and DSAT South Africa. First National Bank 1998 to 1999 Hogan Developer I developed and maintained core Bank products such as IDS and PACS. I was also solely responsible for the CLC (Cheque clearing system) and all data communications with ACB. I was involved in all aspects of the life cycle, from Jad sessions to final user acceptance and sign-off. My final project was to design and develop the MICR system which replaced the existing legacy system due to Y2K limitations.
