We are looking for a talented technical team member to be the serve as our advertising operations engineer. Your job will be to make sure that ad campaigns placed through our system execute successfully no matter what - and that means using (and building!) tools that let you see what is happening in real-time, detect anomalies, and taking steps to correct them. You will be at the intersection of business and technology, making sure that things work correctly where technology and money collide. This is functionally a specialized form of DevOps.
Director of Software Architecture
Build and maintain monitoring systems and software for verifying successful delivery of advertising content across our network.
Monitors currently running ad campaigns and takes steps to resolve any issues with successful delivery.
Works with development teams to optimize delivery and budget consumption on campaigns.
Build and maintain forecasting systems and software to prepare for future large campaigns.
Build and maintain analysis systems and software to review completed campaigns for lessons learned.
Coordinates with project management to schedule needed work on production systems into future sprints.
Coordinates with sales teams to give a clear picture of upcoming availability and inventory.
Ensuring that tasks and other key system information are documented and centralized in Asana (project management tool) and Confluence (documentation tool).
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Quick learner – can process new information quickly and remember key points.
Track record of delivering results.
People-person with a team-centric attitude.
Technical knowledge – you will be doing software development for internal use.
Attention to detail – makes sure that campaigns are performing, and takes early adjustive action to keep that happening.
Multitasking skills – demands will come from various people throughout the day and must prioritize and juggle them with poise. Must be comfortable juggling various projects simultaneously.
Strong SQL background - you will be writing queries into our MariaDB database
Strong NoSQL background - you may be writing queries into our realtime databases
Experience with a language (probably scripting) for tool building. Typescript/Node is preferred but not required.
AWS background - you should be very familiar with Cloudwatch and DynamoDB.
Data visualization knowledge is a PLUS.
Advertising background is a PLUS.
Experience using Asana software for project management and Slack for instant messaging and basic files sharing is a PLUS.
4-6+ years of relevant software development or operations work experience is a prerequisite.
Past experience in a startup, software company or advertising company is a PLUS.
